Ateps

Ateps

Note
Note

This integration connects Ateps Storage Control System battery containers to the SmartgridOne Controller via Modbus TCP. It supports monitoring and remote power control.

Storage Control SystemExide Technologies Battery Containers✅❌✅

Wiring

  • Connect the Ateps controller (or site gateway) to the LAN with an RJ45 Ethernet cable.
  • Confirm TCP port 502 is open between the Ateps device and the SmartgridOne Controller.
  • Follow the Ethernet wiring best practices.

The integration uses Modbus TCP only. Unit ID 1 is scanned by default.

Configuration

1. Network

  1. Power up the Ateps controller and connect it to the site LAN.
  2. Reserve or note the controller’s IP address so it remains reachable.

2. Ateps settings

  1. Log in to the Ateps interface with an admin account.
  2. Enable the Modbus TCP server on port 502 and keep the Unit ID at 1.
  3. Save the changes (reboot if requested).

3. Add the device in Controller

  1. In the SmartgridOne Controller UI, open Devices → Add device.
  2. Choose Modbus TCP, enter the Ateps IP address, and leave the unit ID at 1.
  3. Start the scan, select “Ateps Storage Control System” when it appears, and click Add.

Remote power control (optional)

When site policies allow curtailment:

  1. Enable smart grid control for the device in the SmartgridOne Controller.
  2. Set the desired power target (positive values request charging, negative values request discharging).
  3. To stop control, disable smart grid mode; the controller will release the battery.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not detected: Check IP reachability and ensure port 502 is open. Verify the Modbus TCP server is enabled.
  • No telemetry updates: Confirm the Ateps device reports a valid state of charge (0.0–1.0). Restart the Modbus service if needed.
  • Control commands ignored: Make sure smart grid mode is enabled and the site allows external dispatch requests.
