Configuration
To connect the Smappee Genius II for local control, the following connection details and credentials are required.
1. Find the Local Address
The Smappee Genius II must be reachable on the local network. You can use either:
- IP Address: The local IP assigned to the Genius II.
- mDNS Address: The hostname in the format
genius2_[UNIQUE_CODE].smappee.local.
2. MQTT Credentials
Authorization is required to access the local broker.
- Username & Password: These are not default. The user must generate these credentials on demand within the Smappee mobile app.
- Port: 8883
- Protocol: Secure MQTT (MQTTS over TCP).
3. Device Identification
- Discovery: Once connected to the broker, all chargers managed by the Genius II can be discovered by subscribing to the topic
device/evse/#. - Access Control: The user has the ability to revoke 3rd-party access at any time via the app, which will block the ability to publish or subscribe to topics.

Important Connection Notes:
- Certificate Validation: When connecting to the local IP or mDNS address, certificate validation should currently be skipped.
- Revocation: Access is managed on a per-user basis. If an integrator is revoked, they will lose all access to state and command topics immediately.
