Connection

The communication between the SmartgridOne Controller and the TeltoCharge operates via an RS-485 serial bus or Modbus TCP.
It is recommended to use shielded cables with twisted pairs for optimal performance. For short distances, a twisted pair from a network cable (minimum CAT5e) can be used.
The following guidelines apply:
- Maximum Distance: The total cable length, including the main cable and branches, is limited to 100 meters.
- Connecting Multiple Inverters: The cable should be daisy-chained from meter to meter or branched off the main cable (branches must not exceed 1 meter).
- Long Distances: It is recommended to install a 120Ω termination resistor at the end of the main cable and activate the termination resistor on the SmartgridOne Controller.
Example of cable setup:
Cable Wire | Charging Station | SmartgridOne Controller | RS485 USB |
---|---|---|---|
Modbus Cable | Terminal RS485 A | Terminal RS485 A | Terminal RS485 A |
Modbus Cable | Terminal RS485 B | Terminal RS485 B | Terminal RS485 B |
Shield | Terminal RS485 GND | Terminal RS485 GND | Terminal RS485 GND |
Settings
The TeltoCharge needs to have modbus enabled:
- Open the Teltonika app
- Navigate to "Settings" -> "Installer Menu"
- Enable "Dynamic Load Balancing"
- After doing this "Dynamic Load Management" will become visisble
- Scroll down and enable "Dynamic Load Management"
- Click "Save"
- The TeltoCharge will now reboot and modbus will be enabled
note
If you have multiple charging stations it is important to set the modbus addresses, each charging station should have a different address.
